First Grade Teacher (Year-Round)

Primary Description:  

The First Grade Teacher is a key role as we build the foundation of the Cooperative School’s academic program and culture. The position requires a self-starter who is passionate about early childhood education and has the ability to design and implement engaging curriculum for young learners.

Status: Part-time Exempt (28 hours/week)  

Department/Ministry: 214 – Cooperative School at Northland

Lines of Accountability: Director of Northland’s Early Learning Center 

Salary: Starting at $36,400/year

    • Ensure that the curriculum is aligned with state and school standards while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Instruction: Provide high-quality, engaging instruction across subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess student progress through both formal and informal assessments. Use data to adjust teaching strategies, provide additional support, and celebrate student successes.

  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn. Establish clear expectations and routines, while promoting respect, responsibility, and kindness.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and staff to support the school's goals and contribute to the development of the school's culture.

Credentials (Educational & Professional Requirements):

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Required).

  • Certification: Valid teaching certification in the State of Florida.

  • Experience: 

    • Proven experience working with young children, preferably in a first-grade classroom setting.

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
